Every stage in the processing of wood and the manufacturing of furniture, floor coverings and construction materials poses its own challenges. In each operation – sawing, sanding, staining or varnishing – the roller coverings have to be specifically designed to withstand the specific chemical and mechanical demands of the process. The chemicals involved in these processes can attack, prematurely age and even destroy the roller coverings. From the development of the roller martial to conducting compatibility tests in our extensive laboratories, we at Böttcher use our experience and our know-how to help you pick the right roller coverings and keep your process running smoothly. Roller hardness, temperature resistance and surface finish all have to be tailored to the specific requirements of each process step. For example, our porous rubber coverings for staining are available in a range of pore structures and densities, ensuring the correct transfer pressure and volume for each type of material. To help you optimize your sanding process, we offer roller coverings in a variety of durometers and with different gradients in the surface profile: Harder coverings and steeper gradients remove more material, softer rollers and flatter profiles enhance the smoothing and polishing effect.
Mechanical properties of roller coverings
- BöttcherTec roller covering materials are very wear-resistant and will outlast most other rollers
- For particularly tough applications (e.g. doser rollers) we have developed hard rubber and polyurethane coverings
- Special seruface finishes guarantee good traction (important for transport rollers, etc.)
- Anti-aging additives make the materials resistant to ozone and UV light
- High elasticity, less edge marking
Chemical properties
- Formulated to stand up to water-and oil-based coatings, stains and other process chemicals
- Roller surface does not become tacky, remains easy to clean
- Anti-adhesive coverings for laminating
- Coverings do not stain or mark the wood
Special features
- Special grooving options (e.g. Opitroller for precise dosing and transfer when varnishing)
- Porous rubber coverings in a range of durometers and densities
Set and forget: How roller quality makes your life easier
You know your machines and processes better than anyone, we know our materials and their influence on the result. Putting our joint knowledge to work enables the selection of the best material for your roller needs. When conducting on-site trials or investigating problems, we will be right there at your side to support you in finding the best possible solution. We are happy to analyze your process requirements and develop customized materials to deliver the results you need. We see ourselves as a “Productivity Provider”: your rollers should simply do the job, day after day, week after week. Stable performance and a long life cycle mean that in the future you can concentrate more on your process and product quality, without being distracted by roller issues. That’s what we mean when we say “Set and Forget”: install, set and then concentrate on getting the best results from your process.
